Replacing news updates with list of order dates
Hello everyone, we have some updates on our website. We decided to remove the news section because it was not getting much traffic and it was hard to keep it updated. Instead, we added a new section where you can see the list of syndicate oil order dates for the next six months. This way, you can plan ahead and make sure you don't miss out on any opportunities. Swinderby CHOPS update for July 2023
Oil prices have continued to decrease month on month from the high of £1.29 ppl seen in March 2022 meaning we were able to get our May delivery of 24,100 litres for just £0.5249 pence per litre.

Swinderby CHOPS update for March 2023
All eligible households should have received their £200 Alternative Fuel Payment (AFP) as a credit onto their electricity account through their energy supplier by now. If you have any questions regarding this payment or haven’t received yours and think that you are eligible, please contact your energy supplier in the first instance.

Swinderby CHOPS update for January 2023
Happy New Year to you all.
The £200 Alternative Fuel Payment should be paid to all eligible households who use heating oil or biomass as their energy source sometime in February. Payments will be received automatically via your electricity supplier, with no need for you to take any action. If you have any questions regarding this payment, please contact your electricity supplier in the first instance.

Swinderby CHOPS update for November 2022
Wednesday 23rd of November 2022
Thank you all for your continued support during 2022 in using the Swinderby CHOPS service that we administer on behalf of the village residents. So far this year we have ordered 173,000 litres of oil and hopefully saved you some money on your oil purchases. Our ability to negotiate a reduced rate on the price per litre of oil is all down to the amount of orders you place with us each time.

Swinderby CHOPS update for October 2022
Our latest oil order in September was for 34,500 litres across 56 drops, and we were served by E-Fuels this time at a price of £0.86 pence per litre.
I’ve had a couple of enquiries about how the Energy Price Guarantee helps heating oil users so thought it helpful to explain.
The Energy Price Guarantee (sometimes referred to as the Energy Price Cap) was introduced by the Government on 1st October 2022 and limits the maximum price per unit we pay for our domestic electricity and gas supplies only. It will be in place until 31st March 2023. It does not cover heating oil.
For heating oil users, the Government announced an Alternative Fuel Payments support package. This is likely to be a one-off £100 payment per household not on the mains gas grid and using an alternative heat source (such as heating oil). The Government has yet to set out the timing or delivery method for this payment.

Bi-monthly orders will be placed on the 4th Weds of every 2nd month (for delivery within 7 days thereafter). Please make sure that you log into your Swinderby CHOPS account to request your oil amount on the following dates:

Swinderby CHOPS update for August 2022
The Swinderby CHOPS buying group is designed to save us all some money on our central heating oil. The saving comes from the bulk delivery into the village which normally means at least one full tanker load and 25+ deliveries, and orders are collected and placed bi-monthly. The minimum oil delivery per household is 500 litres (as designated by the oil suppliers).
Bi-monthly orders will be placed on the 4th Wednesday of every 2nd month (for delivery within 7 days thereafter). Please make sure that you log into your Swinderby CHOPS account to request your oil amount on the following dates:
- Order by Weds 29th September
- Order by Weds 23rd November

Swinderby CHOPS update for July 2022
I’ve just placed the July order - 15,700 litres across 24 drops and secured £0.8125 pence per litre from Prince Petroleum. Highest quote for this order from one oil supplier was £0.9599 ppl proving how volatile the oil markets and pricing methods still are.

- Order by 30th September 2022 later date due to my holidays
- Order by 30th November 2022.

Swinderby CHOPS update for June 2022
Finally the warm weather is here and we can all switch our heating off (hopefully). Not a lot else to update this month, other than oil prices remain higher than we would all like.

- Order by 30th September 2022 later date due to my holidays
- Order by 20th November 2022

Swinderby CHOPS update for April 2022
The price of oil for our 32000 litre order on 21st March was £0.9675 pence per litre (ppl) which was significantly less than we were expecting having seen BoilerJuice quoting £1.8995 ppl on 8th March and the ongoing volatility of the oil markets. The market seems to have stabilised at the moment, with oil prices currently sitting around 85p to 90p per litre depending on the supplier.
Due to the rise in oil prices, reports of heating oil thefts are on the increase nationwide so please make sure that you take appropriate measures to secure your oil tanks.
